Ingredients

You Will Need – (for 4–6 servings):

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 250 g ground pork

  • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup bread crumbs

  • 3 tablespoons ketchup (plus extra for topping)

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

The dried marjoram adds a subtle citrusy and floral note that elevates the classic meatloaf into a more aromatic and flavorful dish.

Instructions

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
    Baking time: 45–50 minutes.

  2. Mix the ingredients:
    In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, eggs, bread crumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried marjoram, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Combine thoroughly:
    Mix everything well using your hands (yes, it works best this way). Make sure the mixture is uniform, but avoid overmixing.

  4. Shape the loaf:
    Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or form it into an elongated shape on a baking tray lined with waxed or parchment paper.

  5. Add the topping:
    Spread a layer of ketchup on top. This adds the signature shine and sweet flavor.

  6. Bake:
    Bake for 45–50 minutes.
    Optional: For a browned top, raise the temperature or switch to broil for the last 5 minutes.

  7. Rest before serving:
    Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to prevent it from falling apart.
